How to prepare for Kangaroo Math

Published · Tutoryx Academy

Kangaroo Math does not ask for hard formulas — it asks for clear thinking under time pressure. Good preparation therefore focuses on how a student thinks, not on memorisation.

Weeks 1–2: work through logic problems and number patterns. The goal is recognising the structure of a problem before starting any calculation.

Weeks 3–4: move to geometry and simple combinatorics. Drawing the figure is half the solution.

Weeks 5–6: simulate the contest. Timed, 24 problems, no interruptions. Then review every mistake — mistakes are the best teaching material available.

Our Math Club follows exactly this rhythm, in small groups, with weekly preparation throughout the year.
